I was very excited when Natalie and Aaron contacted me to photograph their wedding in September. The theme of their wedding is to be rustic and western which is my favourite style to photo. As they are booking me for the full day I offered an engagement session on The Colorado National Monument.
I like to shoot the two hours before sunset unless its cloudy, harsh direct sun during the day makes it a bit harder to find nice locations. I started with them sitting on a rock behind the visitors center.
I then found a tree nearby that blocked the sun and showed them some basic poses to give us a base to start from.
Too much fun with this couple who had not had a photo session before. We drove over to an overlook behind the campground and I pulled out a blanket I had in my car to keep Natalie warm, it turned out to be a nice prop! I saw a reflection in a puddle ( something I always love to see) and made sure I got the shot.
As the sun went down the Monument started to glow orange and thats when I placed my couple on the edge to get the wide vista shots. Super happy with how these images turned out !
